Travelling exhibition of the International Academy for Non-Traditional Arts - IANA.
Organized with the cooperation of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria. Supported by the Bulgarian Embassy in Austria represented by H.E. Embassador Radi Naydenov and the Bulgarian Cultural Institute "House Witgenstein" - Wien.
There was extremely high interest on Bulgarian as well as on Austrian part, sign for which was the special presence of the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria Mr. Ivan Tokadzhiev, Prof. Gredi Assa and Prof. Andrey Daniel who presented the exhibition to the audience.

Dear Dr. Helmut Wounout - Director of the Art Section at the Federal Council of the Republic of Austria, Your Excellency Mr. Radi Naydenov - Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Republic of Austria, Mr. Borislav Petranov - Director of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute House Witgenstein in Wien, Your Excellencies, Dear Ladies and Gentlemen!

Allow me first to express my pleasure of being in the centre of Europe - in Austria, in the wonderful Wien and the beautiful Portscha Palace, which history dates back since the 15th century and where Bulgarian art meets warm welcoming for the second time: in 2004 here were exhibited the paintings of the youngest generation of Bulgarian painters, and now in the beginning of this significant for Bulgaria year the Austrian public would be able to see representative except of the Bulgarian visual-plastic arts in the period 2000-2005. The exhibition "Contemporary Bulgarian painting, plastic/conceptual, 2000-2005", prepared by the Bulgarian side on the Operating program 2006 of the Communication strategy for Bulgaria's EU accession, was at first shown in the eve of the accession in the European Union in Netherlands and Germany. Today we are here to dedicate this exhibition to the actual membership of our country in the European Union and we are honored to be your guests as equal members in the big European family.
I am happy to be together with you in this wonderful Palace, where ancient and modern greet each other as a proof for our common European history.
Cordially I thank the Federal Council, the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Austria and the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Wien for the opportunity they presented to me to organize this exhibition.
I thank for the warm hosting of the exhibition "Contemporary Bulgarian painting, plastic/conceptual, 2000-2005", which would be in Wien from today till February 2, 2007, after which it will continue its European tour in Innsbruck and Bratislava.
In the eve of this historical for my country moment, the Ministry of Culture prepared and realized numerous events in the member-countries, which present ancient and modern Bulgaria. Through the whole 2007 Bulgarian culture will roam across Europe, will overcome borders, differences, stereotypes, prejudices, to show the magnificence of the Bulgarian art, the challenges in the world around us, the thread that connects us.
This would also be, I hope, the impression that these 56 paintings of 34 contemporary Bulgarian painters of different generations will leave in you. Our mission is to show you the beautiful face of Bulgaria, its precious capital - its culture. This capital was undoubted argument for our country during the debates in the European Parliament, when the Chairman of the European Commission Jose Manuel Durao Barroso presented the positive decision of the Commission for the Bulgarian membership as of January 1, 2007.
Today's exhibition shows that Bulgaria accesses the European Union with the self-confidence not only of an ancient civilization but also of a country full of young talents, with potential for development in the area of cultural industries.
Here we are today in Wien standing in front of the metaphorical letters of the Bulgarian artists presenting our contemporary art vision of the world. These messages come from a post-Utopian, post-totalitarian world without illusions, sometimes without ideals but also strong and affecting with strive for survival, with hope for the future.
For us it is very important that the people of Austria look at Bulgarian art and Bulgarian artists with the eyes of friends who understand us and accept us for who we are - children of this Earth, Europeans by tradition, contemporary and future partners.
